We are the production · Sets made to measure
Describe the atmosphere you have in mind and the venue you have chosen. We produce the sets and have them in place before your first guest arrives.
The stage set, the walls and ceilings, the furniture, signage, greenery and props: event set design dresses the whole venue your guests walk into. Prodbox, an event production company in Paris, produces these sets to measure, from the first sketch to the get-out, for luxury houses, companies and event agencies. Boris Malesset, who has been producing shows and events since 1994, leads the team that oversees your sets.
You bring your house codes and the venue you have chosen. The set designer turns those codes into sketches, then into material and colour boards that you approve with your teams. We then translate the chosen design into dimensioned construction drawings: sizes, materials, finishes, the split into modules, the fixings. The workshop and the crew build from those drawings, so the set that goes up in the venue matches the design you signed off.
For set design and build, we bring several crafts together: carpenters, metalworkers, scenic painters for patinas and faux marble, large-format printers, upholsterers for stretched fabric. We design your sets, and our partner workshops build them.
Before transport, the workshop puts the set up in full: you see it assembled, you approve the finishes, and we check that each module will fit through the venue's doors and goods lift.
On stage, we design the set around a speech, a concert or the moment you reveal a product: backdrop, risers, built-in screens, lectern. In the room, we dress the walls, ceilings and floors, install the furniture and signage, and set the lighting so the materials show their texture once evening falls.
We also build the sets for shop windows and pop-up stores, which you will find under luxury brand activation, and the stage for a product launch event. We run each of them like any other production, with a budget tracked line by line. Set design is one part of our luxury event production in Paris, alongside technical production, show calling and exhibition stand design for trade shows and fairs.
Send us a few images of the atmosphere you imagine and the venue's floor plan, and we will start the feasibility study together.
We choose each material for the effect it gives and for its weight, its fire rating and the way it travels. Solid timber is heavy; a light panel, finished by a scenic painter, gives the same effect under evening light and goes up a service staircase without trouble. Fabrics and carpets carry a fire rating, either inherently flame-retardant or treated, and come with their certificate. For suspended sets, the venue approves the rigging points and the loads before the build.
In the mountains, in Val d'Isère or Tignes, we also plan for winter access and for the cold, which slows the drying of paint and glue.
We plan the get-out from the first drawing: modules screwed together rather than glued, reversible fixings, flight cases made to measure. You can then rebuild a set for another date or venue, reuse part of it, or send the materials for recycling. Between events, we store your sets and furniture with our partners.
Scenography organises the space and the route your guests take through it; set design dresses that space with sets, furniture and materials. On most projects the two are drawn together, and we produce them on the same schedule.
An event set designer creates the look of an event and its sets: sketches, materials, colours, furniture and props. The designer works with the production team, which organises the build, transport, installation and get-out.
Yes. In a venue open to the public, sets must meet fire-safety rules, and most venues ask for the fire certificates of the materials before the build. We collect them from the makers and hand them to the venue's safety officer.
Yes. We work from the drawings of event agencies, of your own designer or of your creative teams, and we take on the construction drawings, the build, transport, installation and get-out.
The budget depends on the area to dress, the materials, the level of finish and the installation time the venue allows. We build it line by line from the drawings, with competing quotes from the workshops, and you decide on each line.
