Event scenography: the space, the light and your guests' route

From the door to the stage, we work out your guests' route with you, then we produce the plans, the lighting, the sets and the show calling.

Event scenography arranges a venue around what your guests experience: the arrival, the route to the stage, the sightlines, the light and the high point of the evening. In Paris and Val d'Isère, Prodbox produces scenography for luxury houses, companies and event agencies, with a team that has more than thirty years of experience in shows and events. We work with your scenographer or with one we choose together, and we take on the technical plans, the lighting, the build and the show calling.

What an event scenographer does

The event scenographer reads the programme, visits the venue, then decides where each thing goes: the stage, the guests, the bar, the circulation, the exits. They work on the sightlines, so your guests can see the stage from each table, and on the rhythm, keeping a surprise behind a curtain until the right moment. Their drawings bring together a layout plan, elevations and mood visuals, which the set designers and technicians then work from. Depending on the project, we design your scenography with partner scenographers.

The lighting, written with the scenography

We design the lighting at the same time as the space. A warm, low light for the welcome, sharp beams on the tables, a clean blackout before the reveal, a followspot on the artist or speaker: each lighting state belongs to a moment on the cue sheet, and the event technical production crew play them in sequence during the show.

From your guests' route to the layout plan

For your guests, the event begins at the door: the cloakroom, the first look at the room, the drinks, then the stage and dinner. We turn this route into a layout plan: the stage and screens, the tables or seating, the bar, the control position, the service routes and the clear routes to the exits, according to the venue's safety rules.

Scenography and set design, on one schedule

We produce your sets on the same schedule as the lighting and technical work, following the stages of event set design. For an exhibition, with a visitor route and pieces to show, exhibition design follows its own rules. The whole corporate event production of your project runs through one contact.

Starting from the venue and the programme

Send us the floor plan of the venue and the programme of your evening, and we will study your guests' route with you.

The stages of event scenography

  • Site visit and reading of the programme.
  • Design intent: you receive 2D plans, 3D views and a mood board, with materials, colours and lighting references.
  • Layout plan, elevations and mood visuals, approved with your teams.
  • Technical plans, specifications and an itemised budget.
  • Building of the sets and preparation of the lighting.
  • Build, adjustments, rehearsal and run-through.
  • Doors open, show calling, then the get-out.

Launch, convention, dinner: the stage, format by format

For a launch, we build the space around the instant the product appears, and the decoration follows that thread. A convention first needs everyone to see the screens and hear the speakers, with a plain, precise stage. A gala dinner is set table by table, from the distance to the stage to the light on faces.

The codes of a house, translated into space

For a luxury house, we start from its codes, a colour or a motif drawn from the archives, and your teams approve each sample before the build. We work strictly within your confidentiality rules, and each supplier receives them in their specification.

Frequently asked questions

Who designs the scenography of an event, and who makes it happen?

An independent scenographer can design your event, and a production company such as Prodbox takes care of making it: technical plans, lighting, build and show calling. We work with the scenographer of your choice or with one we choose together.

What does an event scenographer do?

They arrange the space of an event around its programme: they place the stage, the guests and the circulation, choose the materials and design the moods with the lighting designer. Their plans then guide the sets, the technical crews and the safety arrangements.

What is the difference between event scenography and exhibition design?

Event scenography stages a moment, an evening or a launch, with a programme and a cue sheet. Exhibition design arranges a visitor route that each person follows at their own pace, with objects, display cases and texts.

How much does the scenography of an event cost?

The cost depends on the floor area, the share of sets to be built, the technical needs and the build time in the venue. We build the budget item by item after the feasibility study and ask several suppliers to quote.

Does scenography also suit small events?

Yes. We produce small and large events, and a dinner of a few tables or a private presentation also gains from a well-planned route and well-judged light.
